Posted

Carol Lynn (Owen) Yonker, a dedicated educator and vibrant member of her community, passed away on February 18, 2025. Born on February 4, 1949, to Alvin Luther Owen and Jeanne Schuff Owen, Carol grew up on Lake Sammamish, where she enjoyed swimming, boating, and camping. Her childhood was filled with adventure, including forming the first Lake Sammamish Yacht Club and raising wild baby horses with her siblings.

Carol spent over 40 years teaching in public schools, inspiring generations of students. She loved dancing and was active in this passion well into her 70s. Family trips to the San Juan Islands and lake house vacations were cherished by her family. She was also a skilled baker, known for passing down generations of family recipes, including the family's famous shepherd's pie. One of the highlights of her grandchildren's childhood was baking Christmas cookies with her each year, a tradition that filled their hearts with joy and their homes with warmth. Carol was also an avid gardener and had a deep love for the great outdoors, finding peace and beauty in nature wherever she was.

Carol is survived by her three sons, Dan (Rochelle) Yonker, Ryan (Terra) Yonker, and Steve Yonker; grandchildren Sydella, Tyler, Simone, Quentin, and Grayson; siblings Donna Owen Hollatz, Barbara Owen Wilson, and Alvin Luther Owen III; and loved ones including Summer Schultz, among with numerous "fur grandbabies." Her legacy will continue through her contributions to education, her community, and the countless memories she created with her family.

A celebration of life will be held at Floral Hall at Forest Park, 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd. Everett, Washington, 98203, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, open house from noon to 4 p.m.
