Mukilteo hosted a party Saturday, and participants, well, ate it up. Among the fun seekers, beginning above and following in order: the winner of the adult pie eating division proved to indeed be brave, downing a cherry pie in minutes; The youth division winner shows off his prize and; Other contestants were whipped into action; Kids participated in a water balloon toss sponsored by MaxStrength Fitness; A dad, baby strapped firmly to his chest, out-pulled a pair of younger fellows in a “tug of war” sponsored by Vice Athletics North; Actors recreate the story of the country's founding in a one-act play; Band members come to the mayor's aid after stiff breezes threaten to blow away his independence day speech; a huge American flag hangs at Rosehill Community Center; And, finally, Mukilteo City Council Vice President Jason Moon, second from front, lifts up his head to take a breath during a pie eating contest Saturday at Lighthouse Park. It was a cherry funny competition.
