Daniel Lytton: 1954-2025

Posted

Our beloved Daniel Lytton, a resident of Mukilteo from 1993 to 2025, was taken from us on Nov. 6, 2025.

Daniel was born on April 27, 1954, in England to Peter Bernard and Bridget Wilson Lytton. When he was 18 months old, the family moved to Guadalajara, Mexico, where Daniel acquired his love of the landscape, the people, the culture and the Spanish language.

At the age of 8, he returned to England with his mother and siblings. He attended a Quaker boarding school, but truly loved the extended family home on the North Sea where he and his brother built boats and learned to sail.

Daniel believed his future lay in North America, and so at the age of 17 he made his way to the U.S. and then to Mexico to work on his father’s ranch. He married Suzanne Gibson, and they moved to Whidbey Island, WA. His two children were born there, and he began his 35-year career as a chief engineer on ocean-going vessels.

Daniel settled in Mukilteo, a community he loved. He often said he couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. He eventually retired from his career at sea, pivoting to real estate, putting his creative stamp on countless renovations and remodels.

He is survived by his daughter, Sabrina (Randy Sears), his son, Kyle (Agata Arent), his grandchildren Vanessa, Achille, Ariel and Eric, his siblings Tony, Raphael and Rosa Lytton, and his partner of 30 years, Niki Albright.

A memorial service will be held at University Friends Meeting, 4001 9th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105 at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22.
